The weather in Malta in May might just be some of the best weather the island experiences all year round. Malta in May is the perfect balance between lovely sunshine that’s not too hot and refreshing breezes that aren’t too cold. Rainfall is also uncommon, making this one of the best months in which to visit. Be very careful of sunburn, the UV factor is rising!
May fact: May is pretty exclusive when it comes to days of the week. No other month in one single year starts or finishes on the same weekday as May. Basically, if the first of May is on a Friday, and the 31st of May is on a Sunday, no other months in the year will start or end on a Friday or a Sunday.
We have a limited number of Late break rooms available at £99.00 per week for two persons at the Mayflower Hotel, Malta, for the month of May.

Dia De Canarias 30th May
Dia de Canarias is one of the most important celebrations in The Canaries and it takes place each year on 30th May, which is the anniversary of the first session of the Autonomous Canarian Government in May 1983.
All of the island’s towns and villages will have some sort of cultural events, something you should look out for is a Baile de Magos – a Canarian dance, with all the participants dressed in traditional Canarian costume.
Dia de Canarias is also a day for various sporting events – including sailing races, boules tournaments, padel competitions, and usually at least one open water swim race. You’ll also find it’s the day when local classic car and motorcycle enthusiasts meet up to tour around the island, so look out for them.
The legendary Club La Santa IRONMAN celebrates 32 years on 18th May 2024.
Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote is an iconic competition, a triathlon mecca, a pioneer in Europe, and a “legend forged in fire”. Take part in this challenging experience in the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Lanzarote and race through volcanic and tropical beach side sceneries. This race also provides qualifying slots to the IRONMAN World Championship 2024 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
About 50 of the 2,000 competitors are professionals. They will complete the course in somewhere between 8 and 10 hours, and they are dedicated to their craft full-time. The other 1,950 are so called “age groupers.” They’re people like you and I – most training hard all year while holding down a full-time job.
There’s no prize money for them – they get a medal, a finisher’s shirt and the kudos of having competed in the world’s toughest triathlon.
